Baccarat Rules

Baccarat chemin de fer is gambled on with eight decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards under ten are counted at their printed value while at the same time Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and Ace is one. Bets are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these are not actual people; they just represent the 2 hands to be dealt).

Two hands of two cards are then given to the ‘house’ and ‘player’. The score for each hand is the sum total of the cards, although the beginning number is ignored. For example, a hand of five and six has a score of 1 (five plus six = eleven; ditch the 1st ‘one’).

A 3rd card may be given using the rules below:

- If the player or bank has a total of 8 or 9, both players stay.

- If the player has less than five, she hits. Players holds otherwise.

- If the player holds, the house hits on a total lower than five. If the gambler takes a card, a chart is used to determine if the banker holds or takes a card.

Punto Banco Odds

The higher of the two scores wins. Winning wagers on the house payout 19 to 20 (even payout minus a five percent rake. The Rake is kept track of and cleared out when you depart the table so make sure you have funds left before you quit). Winning bets on the player pay 1:1. Winning bets for a tie frequently pay eight to one but sometimes nine to one. (This is a poor bet as ties occur less than 1 in every ten hands. Avoid gambling on a tie. Although odds are substantially greater for 9 to 1 versus eight to one)

Gambled on properly punto banco gives generally good odds, apart from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Banque Strategy

As with all games Baccarat has a few common false impressions. One of which is close to a misconception in roulette. The past is not a prophecy of future actions. Tracking past results on a page of paper is a poor use of paper and a snub to the tree that was cut down for our paper needs.

The most familiar and definitely the most favorable scheme is the 1-3-2-6 method. This tactic is employed to maximize winnings and limit risk.

Start by placing one chip. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a sum total of three dollars on the second bet. Should you win you will now have 6 on the table, subtract 4 so you have 2 on the 3rd round. Should you succeed on the third wager, put down 2 on the four on the table for a sum total of 6 on the 4th wager.

If you lose on the first wager, you take a hit of one. A win on the initial bet followed by a loss on the second brings about a hit of two. Wins on the 1st two with a loss on the third provides you with a gain of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th means you break even. Succeeding at all 4 wagers gives you with twelve, a take of ten. This means you will be able to lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every favorable run of 4 wagers and still are even.
