Baccarat Regulations

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards valued less than 10 are said to be worth their printed value and on the other hand 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual gamblers; they purely represent the two hands to be dealt).

Two hands of two cards shall then be played to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The score for any hand shall be the sum of the two cards, but the very first digit is removed. For eg, a hand of 7 and five results in a total of 2 (7plusfive=twelve; drop the ‘1′).

A 3rd card might be given out depending on the following rules:

- If the bettor or banker has a total of eight or 9, the two bettors stand.

- If the player has five or less, he hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of 5 or lower. If the gambler hits, a chart is used to determine if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the 2 scores wins. Successful stakes on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even odds less a five % commission. Commission is tracked and moved out when you leave the table so make sure to have money still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to 1. Winning bets for tie usually pays out at eight to 1 but sometimes nine to 1. (This is not a good bet as ties happen less than one every ten hands. Run away from betting on a tie. Still, odds are somewhat better – 9 to one vs. eight to 1)

When done smartly, baccarat presents relatively good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games, Baccarat has some common misunderstandings. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is never actually an indicator of future happenings. Keeping track of past results on a chart is definitely a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most commonly used and probably most successful tactic is the one-three-2-6 scheme. This technique is deployed to accentuate payout and lowering risk.

start by wagering one unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of three on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, subtract four so you have 2 on the 3rd gamble. If you win the third bet, add two to the four on the table for a grand total of six on the fourth bet.

If you don’t win on the initial bet, you take a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of two. Wins on the 1st two with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Attaining a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of ten. Therefore you can fail to win the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
