Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards which are valued under ten are said to be worth their printed number while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Bets are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual individuals; they simply act as the two hands to be given out).

Two hands of two cards are then played to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The score for each hand will be the sum total of the 2 cards, but the first digit is dropped. For e.g., a hand of seven … 5 has a tally of 2 (7plusfive=twelve; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card might be played depending on the following rules:

- If the player or banker has a total of eight or nine, the two bettors stand.

- If the gambler has five or less, he hits. bettors stand otherwise.

- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart shall be used to determine if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The greater of the two scores wins. Successful wagers on the banker payout 19 to twenty (even odds minus a five percent commission. Commission is followed closely and moved out when you leave the table so make sure that you have funds still before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to one. Winning bets for tie generally pay out 8 to 1 and on occasion 9 to 1. (This is a crazy wager as ties will happen less than one every 10 hands. Stay away from betting on a tie. Nevertheless odds are substantially better – nine to 1 versus 8 to one)

When done correctly, baccarat presents relatively good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Baccarat Tactics

As with all games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. 1 of which is close to a roulette myth. The past is not a predictor of future outcomes. Staying abreast of past outcomes on a chart is undoubtedly a total waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most commonly used and feasibly most successful tactic is the one-three-two-6 concept. This schema is employed to build up payout and cutting back risk.

Begin by gambling 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, subtract four so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you win the third bet, add two to the four on the table for a sum total of 6 on the fourth wager.

If you lose on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the second creates a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the 4th mean you breakeven. Arriving at a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. Therefore you can lose the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
