Baccarat Protocols
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards of a value less than 10 are valued at their printed number whereas ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual players; they strictly symbolize the 2 hands to be given out).
2 hands of two cards are then played to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The value for each hand will be the sum of the 2 cards, but the first digit is removed. For eg, a hand of 7 as well as five has a tally of two (sevenplus5=twelve; drop the ‘1′).
A third card may be played depending on the following guidelines:
- If the bettor or banker has a total score of 8 or 9, then both gamblers stand.

Baccarat Odds
The larger of the 2 scores wins. Victorious wagers on the banker pay at nineteen to 20 (even odds less a five percent commission. Commission is tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure that you have funds left over before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay 1 to 1. Winning bets for tie usually pays out at eight to one but sometimes 9 to one. (This is an awful gamble as ties happen lower than one every ten hands. Definitely don’t try placing bets on a tie. Still, odds are far better – 9 to 1 versus 8 to 1)
When done correctly, baccarat provides fairly decent odds, apart from the tie bet of course.
Baccarat Tactics
As with just about all games, Baccarat has some well-known misunderstandings. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette misconception. The past is in no way a predictor of future happenings. This means you can lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
