Punto Banco Regulations and Strategy
Baccarat Rules
Baccarat chemin de fer is played with 8 decks in a shoe. Cards below 10 are worth their printed number while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are zero, and Ace is 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these are not really people; they simply represent the two hands to be dealt).
Two hands of 2 cards are then dealt to the ‘banker’ and ‘gambler’. The total for each hand is the sum total of the cards, however the 1st digit is ignored. For example, a hand of 5 and 6 has a value of 1 (five plus six = eleven; ignore the first ‘one’).
A third card could be dealt depending on the rules below:
- If the gambler or house achieves a score of 8 or nine, both players hold.
- If the player has less than five, he hits. Players otherwise stay.
- If the player holds, the house takes a card on five or less. If the gambler takes a card, a guide is used to decide if the house stands or takes a card.
Baccarat Banque Odds
The larger of the 2 totals wins. Winning wagers on the house pay out 19 to 20 (equal cash minus a 5 percent commission. Commission are recorded and paid off when you leave the table so be sure to still have cash remaining before you depart). Winning wagers on the gambler pays 1 to 1. Winning wagers for a tie normally pay eight to one but on occasion 9 to 1. (This is a awful wager as ties happen less than one in every 10 rounds. Be wary of wagering on a tie. However odds are substantially greater for 9 to 1 vs. eight to one)
Wagered on correctly baccarat banque gives generally good odds, aside from the tie wager of course.
Punto Banco Strategy
As with all games Baccarat has a few common misconceptions. One of which is close to a myth in roulette. The past is not a prophecy of events about to happen. Keeping score of past results on a chart is a bad use of paper and an affront to the tree that gave its life for our paper needs.
The most accepted and probably the most accomplished course of action is the one, three, two, six tactic. This tactic is deployed to pump up profits and limit risk.
Begin by betting one dollar. If you win, add 1 more to the 2 on the game table for a sum total of three units on the second bet. Should you succeed you will now have six on the table, pull off 4 so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you come away with a win on the third wager, add two to the 4 on the table for a total of six on the fourth wager.
Should you don’t win on the 1st round, you take a loss of one. A win on the first bet followed by a hit on the second causes a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a hit on the 3rd provides you with a profit of 2. And success on the 1st 3 with a defeat on the 4th means you break even. Winning all 4 bets gives you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means you can lose the 2nd bet five times for each favorable run of 4 wagers and in the end, break even.
